Cupcake Stop
Manhattan food truck that changes locations and alerts customers via twitter

After graduating from New York Law School, Lev Ekster decided to have a little fun and make a little money. He partnered with John Drabczyk, who owned both a truck and a city vending permit (hard to come by!) In no time, he was smack dab at the epicenter of street food. The Cupcake Stop is ridiculously popular in Manhattan for their gourmet coffee and teas, gluten free goodies, and huge variety of amazing cupcakes.
The cupcakes are moist, the icing smooth without being too sweet. They are baked fresh daily by "cupcakiere" Heather Warren. One of the most highly praised cupcakes is the Red Velvet, a tiny, perfect take on the Southern classic. Other notables include the Fluffernutter, the Banana Ginger, and the Hostess—a fresher and more flavourful version of the the chocolate and white swirled icing icon of childhood. If you’re actually buying for the children, consider the Psychedelic Tie Dye or the Funfetti. Visit the Cupcake Stop website before you buy, as the menu changes daily. Cupcakes come in two sizes: mini, which sell for a whopping dollar apiece, and traditional, which sell at $2.25. Feeling like a big spender? Get a dozen minis for ten dollars and treat the whole office.
Lev Ekster’s mobile bakery has only been on the streets for a few months, but it has taken the busy little island by storm. The truck is on the streets during regular business hours seven days a week. It’s often located on 5th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd street, but if you want to know for sure before heading out, subscribe to their twitterfeed—the current location is always posted. Can’t find the truck? You’re in luck—Ekster is opening a shop inside The Limelight Marketplace soon (6th Avenue and 20th Street). Check the Cupcake Stop website for details as they unfold.
